Sleep

In this episode we cover:

  • As a parent we need to teach our pēpi how to link their sleep cycles together. Waking up and attending to your babies needs is how you help them to do this.
  • By helping your pēpi link their sleep cycles together, they are learning an auto pilot response to sleep.
  • Babies do not learn this if they are left to cry it out.
  • The brain of your pēpi grows rapidly from ¼ of an adult size to nearly full adult size by the time they are 3 years old.
  • The pēpi who wakes 2-3 times a night for breast milk could be at a huge advantage to those who sleep for 8 hours straight.
  • Nothing is wrong if you are still waking up during the first 18 months and responding to your pēpi in the night.
  • Keep your pēpi rara /bed close to your bed so you can cater to their needs quickly and put them back to sleep.
  • If you have already left your baby to cry back to sleep, don’t worry you haven’t failed. This is only one risk factor.
