Pūtea Manaaki (Sports Grant)

Pūtea Manaaki – Sporting Recognition Grant

The purpose of this grant is to recognise regional and national achievement in sport.

Any enrolled Ngāi Tahu person chosen for regional representation at a regional event for a specific sport, is entitled to a $250.00 contribution towards their participation costs.

Any enrolled Ngāi Tahu chosen for national representation at a national event (within New Zealand) for a specific sport, is entitled to a $500.00 contribution towards their participation costs.

Any enrolled Ngāi Tahu chosen for national representation at an international event (playing at an event overseas) for a specific sport, is entitled to a $1,000.00 contribution towards their participation costs.

The number of applications per person is limited to one per year. However, if you were selected to represent at a regional level and then selected to represent at a national level, for the same sport, you are eligible to apply for each level within the 12-month period.

The same applies if you are chosen for national representation at a national event and then chosen for national representation at an international event, for the same sport.

For example:

Payment is normally made to the sporting body where they are responsible for organising travel/participation.
