KMK Whānau Haereka

Strengthen relationships with other te reo Māori speaking whānau, using te reo Māori in social and whānau settings.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are intermediate to advanced speakers of te reo Māori.

Kia Kūrapa

Marae-based, weekend wānaka for beginner and intermediate language learners held 4-5 times a year.

All registered Ngāi Tahu whānau.

Kura Reo Kāi Tahu

Week-long immersion wānaka focusing on developing proficiency and use of Kāi Tahu reo.

Who can apply?

All registered Ngāi Tahu whānau. Funding may be available through the Kotahi Mano Kāika funds.

Kā Manukura o Te Reo Fund

Financial assistance for advanced learners and speakers of te reo Māori to further develop your Māori language proficiency.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are intermediate to advanced speakers of te reo Māori, involved with their community and committed to further language development.

Kāika Reo Fund

Financial assistance for whānau groups to strengthen the use of te reo Māori as an everyday language of inter-generational communication.

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are committed to the kaupapa of Kotahi Mano Kāika, increasing proficiency and use of te reo Māori as a whānau group.

Manawa Hou

Explore your Ngāi Tahu identity and takiwā on a four-day hīkoi hosted by one of our 18 Papatipu Rūnanga.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau aged 15-18 years with a passion for learning about Ngāi Tahutanga.

Ngāi Tahu Internship

Work full-time for two years at the Ngāi Tahu office in Ōtautahi, moving around different parts of the organisation.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are recent school leavers or those taking a break from tertiary study.

Pūtea Manaaki for Sporting Achievement

Funding assistance for registered Ngāi Tahu whānau to recognise regional and national achievement in sport.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who have been chosen to represent their region or country at a specific event.

Tahua Taunaki Akonga – Learner Support Fund

Financial assistance for personalised learning support.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are 5–18 years old.

Te Ara Whakatipu

Explore your Ngāi Tahu identity on a seven-day hīkoi through Whakatipu Waitai (Hollyford Valley) and into Martins Bay, Fiordland.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau aged 15-18 years with a passion for learning about Ngāi Tahutanga.

Te Pōkai Ao: Silicon Valley Boot Camp

Each year 10 Ngāi Tahu taiohi (rangatahi/youth) will go to Silicon Valley, San Francisco, USA to attend a five-day science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) boot camp.

Who can apply?

This incredible opportunity is open to all Ngāi Tahu taiohi in Years 9 and 10. We are looking for innovative, creative thinkers and leaders and, most importantly, taiohi with open minds who are willing to learn from new experiences.

Whānau Reo Fund

Financial assistance to attend Ngāi Tahu focused immersion events in Te Waipounamu for whānau actively raising tamariki in te reo Māori at an intermediate to advanced level.

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are intermediate to advanced speakers of te reo Māori.

Yamada O’Regan Secondary School Scholarships

Support for registered Ngāi Tahu school students who are facing challenges to complete the year and successfully attain a school qualification.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are students in Years 10-13 and who display leadership qualities despite adversity.
