The role of whanau in infant development

In this episode we cover:

  • Pēpi has a huge advantage if they have additional people nurturing and showing aroha to them throughout their life, as well as their main caregiver.
  • When we say that ‘it takes a village to raise a baby’, it means that the village wraps support around the dyad (one-on-one relationship with the main caregiver).
  • Extra whānau relationships are additional support, not instead of the main dyadic relationship.
