New Directors for Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation

Mark Solomon, Kaiwhakahaere of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, announced today that Trevor Burt and Catherine Drayton have been appointed as Directors on Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation Limited (NTHC), with Mr Burt appointed as Chair.

Both appointments are for three years and commence 1 August 2009.

Mr Burt is familiar with the functions of NTHC, having served as Interim Chief Executive for NTHC for the past three months. Processes are well underway to fill the CE position which will now be vacated by Mr Burt.

Mr Solomon said he was delighted that NTHC would benefit from the extensive experience of the two new directors.

Mr Burt has had an extensive career with the global industrial gas company BOC Group, working and living in Australia, China, and the USA. Following the acquisition of BOC by the Linde Group, Mr Burt moved to Germany to join the executive board of the Linde Group. On his return to New Zealand Mr Burt joined the boards of a number of South Island companies, including Lyttelton Port Company Ltd, Mainpower NZ Ltd, and as of 1 August 2009, Silver Fern Farms Ltd.

Also based in Christchurch, Catherine Drayton has 15 years of experience acting as a consultant on mergers and acquisitions in Western, Central & Eastern Europe. She is also the former partner in charge of the Assurance and Advisory business of PricewaterhouseCoopers in Central & Eastern Europe. As a result of these roles, she has significant multi-cultural, multi-jurisdictional managerial and cross-border transactional experience. Ms Drayton currently serves as a Councillor of the University of Canterbury, is a Director of Industrial Research Limited, a Director of Hockey New Zealand and a Director of Meridian Energy Limited.

Mark Solomon thanked NTHC Board Member Linda Constable for her role as interim Chair and her involvement in seeking a permanent chair. Ms Constable will remain a member of the Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation Board.

The Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation manages a $0.6 billion asset group that includes property, tourism and seafood.

From August 1, the Directors of the Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation Board will be Trevor Burt, Linda Constable, Catherine Drayton, Ross Keenan, Donald Couch and Gerry Coates.
