NTHC appoints new directors to subsidiaries
Trevor Burt, chair of Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation, has announced two new appointments to the Ngāi Tahu Seafood board. They are Greg Summerton who commenced in June and Maria Pera who will join the board in December. Both whakapapa to Ngāi Tahu and have maintained long-term involvement in the seafood industry.
Mr Burt says these appointments follow the confirmation last month that Brian Rhoades would continue as chair for Ngāi Tahu Seafood, that Ross Keenan would continue as chair for Ngāi Tahu Tourism and that Barry Bragg, already a director with Ngāi Tahu Property (NTP), would replace Linda Constable at the helm of NTP following Linda’s retirement.
Mr Burt says the careful selection of directors for the Ngāi Tahu subsidiaries would ensure the seamless continuation of dependable decision making, which had allowed shareholder equity to steadily increase over the past few years. “Our new seafood directors will bring an additional dynamic, understanding as they do the complexities of the seafood markets, and the types of issues that arise regularly for those working in the industry,” says Mr Burt.
“I am also pleased to announce that Rick Braddock and David Kennedy have signed on for another term each with Ngāi Tahu Property – meaning that we will continue to benefit from their extensive experience; Rick’s experience in the agricultural industry and David’s experience in retail and property development add greatly to our range of skills at the property table.”
Greg Summerton is owner and managing director of Okains Bay Seafood Ltd. He is a Trust Board Member with South Māori Development Trust and Director with Quality Ocean International Ltd.
Maria Pera is a representative and trustee with Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu. She is Chair of the Treaty Tribes Coalition and chair of Kāi Tahu Tai Whenua o Murihiku Trust. Maria Pera is currently a Regional Manager Access Homehealth Southland and Otago.
