Governance with Impact - Two Board Positions Available
Te Tauraki Limited (Te Tauraki) is a subsidiary of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu (Te Rūnanga) and is the Iwi-mandated vehicle for advancing health and wellbeing aspirations for Kāi Tahu whānau and whānau Māori within the Kāi Tahu Takiwā. As well as the Iwi-owned health and wellbeing vehicle, Te Tauraki operates as an Iwi Māori Partnership Board and a commissioning agency (currently contracted by Te Puni Kōkiri as the Whānau Ora commissioning agency for Te Waipounamu and Wharekauri / Rēkohu). We're looking for two Directors who are grounded in purpose.
Make a difference, we need Directors who bring:
Financial and Governance Excellence
- Robust experience in financial oversight and risk management
- Background in audit committee leadership or CFO/finance executive roles
- A strong understanding of te ao Māori and Te Tiriti o Waitangi with cultural Intelligence
- Ability to navigate complex stakeholder relationships across iwi, government, and community sectors
- A deep experience of the machinery of Government, social investment or health/social sector commissioning is desirable
- Commitment to whānau-centred approaches and Māori health equity
Board-Ready Leadership
- Complementary skills to strengthen our existing Board composition
- Strategic thinking with attention to operational reality
- Courage to ask the hard questions while maintaining collaborative relationships

Role details
- Positions: Two Board Director roles
- Term: Two or Three years (renewable)
- Time commitment: Approximately – 30 days per year (including Board meetings, committee work, and strategic activities)
- Remuneration: Competitive director fees in accordance with Te Rūnanga Group governance framework
- Location: Board meetings held within Kāi Tahu Takiwā with some travel required as well as some virtual hui.
- Conflict Management: Due to the investment nature of our role and governance, Te Tauraki Board members must be free from any conflicts related to service provision, and conflicted applicants will be precluded from appointment.
