We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Policy Advisor to join Te Rūnanga and be at the cutting edge of iwi development and iwi kaitiakitanga. You will make a significant impact on behalf of Ngāi Tahu whānui to enable us to realise the Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu vision: 'mō tātou, ā, mō kā uri ā muri ake nei' (for us and our children after us).

He kōrero mō te tūranga | The Role

As a Senior Policy Advisor, you will lead and contribute high quality analysis, research and advice supporting the Strategy and Influence work plan, with a particular focus on settlement protection which includes the protection of the Ngāi Tahu Deed of Settlement. This position offers a real opportunity to lead, influence and produce high quality analysis, research and advice that has an immediate impact.

He kōrero mōu | About You

We are seeking an individual with:

  • 5+ years' experience working on policy with central and/or local government, with a preference for those with legal qualifications and experience.
  • A demonstrated track record of effectively providing comprehensive policy analysis and the development and implementation of policies within the public sector and/or Treaty settlement experience.
  • A demonstrated track record of effectively managing policy projects and a comprehensive understanding of project management practices.

The successful applicant will have a strong affinity for the needs and aspirations of Ngāi Tahu whānui. Alongside this, you will understand, or have an eagerness to learn and engage with our Ngāi Tahu values and te reo Māori. Ka tika!
