Manawa Kāi Tahu launched

At Hui-ā-Tau Tā Mark Solomon launched Manawa Kāi Tahu, the first sustainability report for Office of Te Rūnanga and Ngāi Tahu Holdings.

Tā Mark Solomon says the project has been led by Ngāi Tahu Holdings with a working party from across Te Rūnanga Group, which included Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Board Representatives, commercial governors and staff from across the organisation.

“We talked and listened to whānau at 8 regional hui across the country and met with staff and our business partners. We have sought to understand and map what our journey towards sustainability as an iwi looks like,” says Tā Mark.

“We believe we are on the right path but we acknowledge there is a long way to go with challenges to meet along the way. We have started creating some targets and actions and these will evolve as our journey continues,” he says.

Mike Sang, Chief Executive, Ngāi Tahu Holdings says the report seeks to outline how we are progressing our cultural, social, environmental and economic performance through living our values.

“As a values-based organisation we have used our six values to form the framework for Manawa Kāi Tahu,” says Mike.

“This is our first attempt to create a framework to measure our cultural, social, environmental and financial performance against our tribal values,” he says.

“The project is at aimed at creating positive outcomes for Ngāi Tahu whānau,” says Mike.

“I hope that Manawa Kai Tahu will resonate with Ngāi Tahu whānui, kaimahi, our commercial entities, customers, partners and others,” says Tā Mark.
