Mark Tume appointed chair of Ngāi Tahu Holdings
Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Kaiwhakahaere Lisa Tumahai has announced the appointment of Mark Tume (Ngāti Maru ki Taranaki, Ngāti Tūwharetoa) as chair of the board of Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation Limited.
The chair appointment is for a three year term and is effective from August 1, 2018.
We are thrilled to have someone of Mark’s calibre and experience leading the Ngāi Tahu Holdings board in the next phase of our tribal journey. Mark is a highly respected director whose governance and professional experience closely align with the values and inter-generational vision of Ngāi Tahu” says Lisa.
Mark will join the board as a director from 26 February 2018 and will work with Trevor Burt until he finishes his third term as chair on 31 July 2018 to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
“While we are excited by the skills and experience Mark brings to the role, we are very grateful for the success and progress made during Trevor’s term as chair. I would like to acknowledge Trevor, who is retiring from the Board, for his astute financial leadership over almost a decade that has ensured the continued sustained growth of our tribal assets,” says Lisa.
Mark’s appointment follows a robust and thorough process to find the very best person to lead the next phase of Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation development, conducted by executive recruitment firm Kerridge and Partners.
Mark has chaired and directed a number of listed and unlisted companies in New Zealand and Australia, including Infratil, New Zealand Refining Company, and Te Atiawa Iwi Holdings LP. He was previously on the board of the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, Transpower, and Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation.
He lives in Tāmaki Makaurau and is married with three grown children. In his spare time he enjoys surfing, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and building custom motorcycles with a friend when time allows!
I am humbled by the opportunity to return to Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation at this time. It’s an honour to be able to serve Ngāi Tahu whānau again and I’m looking forward to working with the teams at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu and Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation” says Mark.
