Ngāi Tahu Property wins prestigious awards
Ngāi Tahu Property has taken out two awards at the 2016 Property Council of New Zealand Industry Awards. Winning best in category for the Health and Medical Property Award and the Urban Land Developments Award.
David Kennedy, Chief Executive, Ngāi Tahu Property, says the awards are a reflection of the hard work that Ngāi Tahu Property has been undertaking.
“We are committed to developing properties to the highest standard and winning these awards is a great recognition of our high standards and innovative design,” says David.
The Property Industry Awards are regarded as the country’s most prestigious commercial property awards. Recipients are judged on economic and financial factors, project vision and innovation, design and construction, owner and user satisfaction, and sustainability and efficiency of operation.
Te Whare Whakapapa, which won the Health and Medical Property Award, is a state-of-the-art facility that was purpose built for New Zealand Blood Service. The property comprises a donor centre, manufacturing and testing laboratories, specialised warehousing and offices.
Ray Scott, National Manager Technical Services, New Zealand Blood Service says, “it is fitting that Ngai Tahu received the award for Te Whare Whakapapa as the developer and owner of the property, recognising that the project was an excellent example of a Public – Private “partnership” to achieve the objectives of both parties.”
“The result was the creation of a state of the art facility to meet New Zealand Blood Services requirements well into the future. The design incorporates a number of technically complex aspects and has been designed to be flexible in layout to meet future workflow, capacity and technology changes. Apart from the critical functionality requirements, the building provides features to ensure both blood donors and staff satisfaction,” Says Ray.
“Because of the specialised services offered at Te Whare Whakapapa we ensured that the building was fit for purpose by working in partnership with all teams involved. Through this collaborative approach we were not only able to meet all the needs of the client, but we also finished ahead of time and just below budget,” says David.
Wigram Skies, which won the Urban Land Developments Award, is an exciting subdivision built on the site of the former Wigram Aerodrome. With the majority of sections complete, this unique, master planned community will be home to around 4,000 people and will provide leisure, recreational, retail and community services to residents of Christchurch’s South West.
“With green spaces and community at the heart of Wigram Skies this will be more than your usual subdivision,” says David.
