What is your position within the organisation?
I am the HR Advisor – Development for the People and Performance team. We are a shared services function providing HR services across the Office of Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu, Ngāi Tahu Property, Ngāi Tahu Seafood and Ngāi Tahu Holding Corporation.
What movement through the organisation have you experienced?
I joined the organisation in 2008 as HR Administrator with Ngāi Tahu Tourism. After 12 months I applied for and was successful in securing a role as HR Coordinator within the shared service function. Since then, I’ve been promoted to HR Advisor – Development. I think this demonstrates there are great opportunities for succession in the group.
What do you like about working for Ngāi Tahu?
I love the uniqueness of working for an iwi organisation. I’ve had opportunities to be involved in some really special events and learn about Ngāi Tahu history and tikanga.
What flexibility do you enjoy?
I appreciate the flexibility I have working for Te Rūnanga. I’ve been able to work hours that fit in with what is happening outside of work.
What development opportunities have you had?
Opportunities for growth have been constant! I’ve been blessed with a leader that really takes the time to invest in my development – not just by providing formal training opportunities, but by supporting me to ‘learn by doing’ and pushing me to try new things.
