This programme is facilitated in partnership with the University of Canterbury. As part of the PACE295 paper, students work at the Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu office completing a 75-hour internship which accounts for 20% of their total paper grade.
The time at Ngāi Tahu will be spent working on a given project which allows practical application of skills in the workplace, development of professional behaviour and contribution to the community.
This allows students the opportunity to apply the theories they have learnt in class and gain a competitive edge upon graduation.
“Earlier this year I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks working at Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu as part of the Tauira Holiday Internship. This project was a good opportunity to experience a corporate environment where Māori culture and tikanga was advocated and encouraged in the workplace. Getting to plan and implement a brand new project was also great preparation for heading out into the job market.”
James MacTaggart (Ngāi Tahu – Te Rūnanga o Ngāti Waewae), Tauria Holiday Paper & Placement Intern
