Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are intermediate to advanced speakers of te reo Māori, involved with their community and committed to further language development.

Kāika Reo Fund

Receive financial assistance to strengthen the use of te reo Māori as an everyday language of inter-generational communication.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are committed to the kaupapa of Kotahi Mano Kāika, increasing proficiency and use of te reo Māori as a whānau group.

Kia Kūrapa

Grow your knowledge and use of te reo Māori at a marae-based weekend wānaka – held four to five times a year.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are beginner to intermediate speakers of te reo Māori.

KMK Whānau Events

Increase your knowledge and use of te reo Māori by taking part in te reo-rich social settings.

Who can apply?

All registered Ngāi Tahu whānau.

KMK Whānau Haereka

Strengthen relationships with other te reo Māori speaking whānau using te reo Māori in social and whānau settings.

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are intermediate to advanced speakers of te reo Māori.

Kura Reo Kāi Tahu

Develop your proficiency and use of Kāi Tahu reo at a week-long immersion wānaka.

Who can apply?

All registered Ngāi Tahu whānau. Funding may be available through the Kotahi Mano Kāika funds.

Pūtea Manaaki for Sporting Achievement

Financial assistance to recognise regional and national achievement in sport.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau selected to represent their region or country at a specific event.

Tahua Taunaki Akonga – Learner Support Fund

Receive financial assistance for personalised learning support.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are 5–18 years old.

Taiawatea

Become a strong, vibrant champion of Ngāi Tahutanga! Receive financial assistance to start projects that strengthen cultural connections and/or support attendance at regional and national cultural events.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu rangatahi aged 13-25 years, or Ngāi Tahu associated rangatahi rōpū.Applicants under the age of 18 need a legal guardian or parent (also registered Ngāi Tahu whānau) to apply on their behalf.

Te Pōkai Ao: To Explore Innovative Opportunities Within Our World

Travel to San Francisco and spend five days in Silicon Valley on a science, technology, engineering, and maths (STEM) boot camp with other Ngāi Tahu taiohi. Take part in design workshops and meet leaders from companies like Google and Facebook.

Registered taiohi Ngāi Tahu in years 9 – 10 with open minds and a passion for innovation and learning.

Whai Rawa

Whai Rawa is the Ngāi Tahu savings programme that can help create a better future for our whānau by encouraging greater wealth and wellbeing.

Who can apply?

All registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who reside in New Zealand or Australia.

Whānau Reo Fund

Receive financial assistance to attend Ngāi Tahu focused te reo Māori immersion events in Te Waipounamu.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu whānau who are actively raising tamariki in te reo Māori and are intermediate to advanced speakers of te reo Māori.

Yamada O’Regan Secondary School Scholarships

Receive financial assistance if you're facing challenges to complete your school year and achieve a school qualification.

Who can apply?

Registered Ngāi Tahu ākonga (students) in Years 10-13 who display leadership qualities in challenging circumstances.
