Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu Group has released its Annual Report for the 2024–25 financial year.
Amid political and economic uncertainty, we have remained focused on the task at hand, steadfast in our commitment to deliver for Kai Tahu Whānui.
The Annual Report reflects on how we have followed through on the commitments made at Hui-ā-Iwi in Kaikōura last year to hold the Crown to account, deliver on strategic priorities, support the aspirations of Papatipu Rūnaka, and deliver value for investment. These remain key areas of focus.
The FY2025 distribution, which allowed for a broad range of programmes, was $80.8 million – a significant figure, representing 4.6 percent of the total value of our net tribal assets.
On the business side of the ledger, the Annual Report also shows that Ngāi Tahu Holdings Corporation (NTHC) has made steady progress and the balance sheet remains strong. NTHC has reported a net operating surplus of $87.7 million, up 40 per cent on the previous year.
This performance reflects groundwork carried out over a long period as well as stabilised valuations, all of which is providing NTHC the flexibility to explore new directions.
