Mō te tūranga – About the Role
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Tractor Driver & Maintenance Specialist to join our Contracting team based in North Canterbury (40 kilometres from Christchurch).
This hands-on role is responsible for supporting farm operations through machinery and cropping activities, general farm maintenance, and assisting with weed control. You'll play an important role in ensuring our farming operations run efficiently while maintaining high standards of animal welfare, environmental stewardship, and health and safety.
Key responsibilities include:
- Operating a range of machinery including tractors, diggers, loaders, trucks and agricultural machinery
- supporting cropping operations
- Maintaining farm equipment, plant, machinery
- Assisting with farm development activities
- Supporting weed control programmes
- Contributing to a safe, productive, and values-led team environment
- Embracing Ngāi Tahu values and opportunities for cultural development.

To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Proven Experience working in the agricultural sector
- Have a good understanding of Greenstar auto steer systems
- Proven Experience operating John Deere and Case tractors
- Be able to work rostered weekends when needed
- Flexible with start and finish times during the busy season
- Proven experience operating tractors and heavy machinery
- Know your way around hand tools, welders and the like.
- Practical maintenance and repair skills
- A proactive approach, ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong observation skills and sound decision-making ability
- Commitment to health, safety, and environmental best practice
- Hold relevant licenses and endorsements
- A willingness to learn, adapt to new technologies, and continuously develop
- Understanding of, or willingness to learn, Ngāi Tahu values, tikanga and te reo Māori.
