Henrietta is a mokopuna of Tōpi Robinson (Ngāi Tahu) on her mother’s side and Sydney Carroll (Ngāti Kahungunu ki te Wairoa) on her father’s side. She has two adult children and one moko.
Henrietta was appointed as Wairewa Rūnanga Representative to Te Rūnanga o Ngāi Tahu in May 2017.
She has worked for a number of organisations promoting whānau, social well-being, employment and health. She is a strong advocate for Māori women, social justice and the environment.
Henrietta is actively involved in Wairewa Rūnanga having previously held roles on the Executive and Chair/Trustee of the company Te Kete o Wairewa Ltd.
The heart of Wairewa is the lake and the whanau. The lake must be healthy to provide tuna for the many families that return to fish each year. Whanau must be able to connect with the rūnanga where ever they live in the world and make use of the opportunities to experience their culture.
Henrietta works at the University of Canterbury in the role Kaiārahi Māori Research.
