Waitangi Day Commemoration

Heading to Ōnuku Marae for Waitangi Day 2025 on the 6th of February?

Here’s what you need to know.

Pōwhiri starts at 9am. Please be at the marae gates by 8.45am if you are attending.

No parking at the marae. Free parking and shuttles will be available from the Akaroa Area School, 141 Rue Jolie, Akaroa, from 7.30am and will run throughout the day.

Livestream

If you can’t make it to the Waitangi Day commemorations at Ōnuku in person, you can still join us from wherever you are.

Tune into the livestream from 8.45am.

New Zealand Sign Language interpreters will be at the event, viewable on the livestream, and live captioning will also be available to ensure everyone can be part of the Hui Whakaū i te Tiriti ki Ōnuku Marae. If you want to see the live captioning, you can turn this on by clicking the ‘CC’ button on the right-hand corner of the video screen.
